Matchmaking

How do I match with a mentor?

As part of the application process, you will be invited to select up to 5 mentors in order of preference. Our administrators will then,  taking into account your preferences, match a mentor to you. It is at this stage that they will create a chat room for you and your  mentor on Nynja in preparation for an introductory meeting.

What if I need help with a subject my mentor cannot help me with?

Logistics

How does the quarter system work?

We have divided the year into 4 quarters, as below:

Q1: 1st Jan – 31st Mar
Q2: 1st Apr – 30th Jun
Q3: 1st Jul – 30th Sep
Q4: 1st Oct – 31st Dec
Each mentorship will be effective for the quarter, with, of course, the option of renewal at the end of each quarter conditional upon the mentor still being available.

Application

Do I have to reapply in the next quarter?

There is no need to reapply. If you are continuing a mentorship with an existing mentee, please sign the agreement form again to renew it for the upcoming quarter. If you are taking on a new mentee, please also sign an agreement form. We will circulate agreement forms at the end of every quarter for this purpose.

Training

What does it mean to be in training?

All mentors start their time in Peer2Peer ‘in training’ under the guidance of a lead mentor. They will be required to shadow 1 meeting per month and substitute for the lead mentor to take a meeting once per month. Training will take place for at least 3 months. This will give them some opportunity to familiarise themselves with Peer2Peer before they ‘graduate’ and take on mentees of their own.
